Places to Visit
The Fortress of Real Felipe is the principal
tourist attraction of Callao and is considered a patrimony of the nation. It
was constructed in 1746 during the colonial period and is the largest of all
the fortresses that Spain built. The Army Museum is located in it's sheltered

Hike through Traditional Callao will find Plaza
Grau, Calle Constitución, Pasaje Ronald, Iglesia Matriz and other places

The Naval Museum has on exhibit canons and other
artifacts of warships from the XIX century to the present. Of particular
interest are relics of past naval heroes.
Archaeological Callao contains the Pre-Inca ruins
of El Paraiso, Complejo de Chivateros, Templo de Media Luna, Huaca Garagay,
Templo Piramidal de Kon-Kon; among others. See Tourist Agenda for guided

Excursions to the islands of Callao with the
largest being; Isla San Lorenzo, also El Fronton, Islas Palominos, Islas

Real Felipe Fortress Monday thru Sunday from
9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fees: S/. 2.00 (children and students), S/. 4.00
(adults), S/.7.00 (foreigners), Free (retirees).
From the dock and Pier - Plaza Grau, guided boat
tour of Callao Bay. Everyday. Fees: S/. 3.00 (adultos) S/. 2.00
(niños).
Lodgings
Due to its proximity with Lima, the capital of
Perú, Callao does not have major hotels. Callao is just a 30 minutes cab
ride from the center of Lima. It is better to lodge in Lima. You will find in
Lima hotels such as Bolivar, Sheraton, and others. Then take the tour to
Callao.
For the adventurous type is best to stay at hostels or
guesthouses in Lima and then take the day tour to Callao.
